BETA FOR THE BUMP
Googling 'climbing + pregnancy' isn't going to give the answers you need. This will.
When you're a climber looking for information to guide your decisions around climbing and training during one of the most important times of your life...it can feel overwhelming, to say the least.
Beta for the Bump is the premier self-paced online course for all the questions that you have as a climber - from bouldering to belaying to finger training, and so much more - no more guesswork and no more Google.
GET ALL THE BETA FOR THE BUMPYou want answers for your actual questions, not blanket statements.
Answers aren't statements like, 'just stop climbing,' or, 'do whatever feels good'. These are blanket statements - and they don't address questions such as, 'can I lead climb', 'how does relaxin affect finger training', and 'will steep terrain make a diastasis worse'.'
Think about how it will feel when you...
01
Can have one resource to answer your questions, vs endless google searches.
02
Have a solid understanding of the risks that matter most - and how to mitigate them.
03
Have a plan to keep your core and pelvic floor strong, on and off the wall, during pregnancy.
climbing during pregnancy is not new but up until now...
This kind of information has never existed in the same place before.
✔ Anecdotal evidence can be helpful but the majority of it is not based on research, it is subjective, and their experience may not directly answer your questions.
✔ Google does provide some information...but you're spinning your wheels trying to piece together information from so many different sources, and just want one source that you can trust.
✔ You want the knowledge to help you be objective when it comes to making decisions around climbing during pregnancy - but you're not sure if this is even possible.
✔ The thought of loosing climbing strength and skill during pregnancy terrifies you - and you want help on maintaining both of those as much as possible.
✔ Core and pelvic floor are these buzzwords you keep hearing, but unsure how climbing impacts them, and even more confused about what happens during pregnancy.
here's the truth:
You can keep finding your own answers, and putting together the pieces on your own, but...
the information out there is in a hundred different pieces, from a hundred different sources...which more often than not contradict themselves. Beta for the Bump makes it possible for you to skip all of that and have one place, with reliably sourced information, to find answers to the real questions you have as a climber during pregnancy.

What To Expect From The Course
Beta for...
Risk Assessment
The B.R.I. framework is a systematic way to objectively look at aspects of climbing such as lead climbing and bouldering that have inherent risks associated with them. You will be able to use this framework to make your own decisions - and feel 100% confident in them.
Beta for...
Strength Training
Can you lift? Are you supposed to lift? What kind of strength training is beneficial vs harmful? All of these questions have answers - along with recommended movement patterns (think squat, hinge, push, pull) and all the cueing you need to execute them perfectly.
Beta For...
Breath and Core
Learn exactly why breathing matters for you as a pregnant climber - and what parts of it are essential for working on core strength during pregnancy. You will come away with knowledge as well as practical application on how to work both, on and off the wall.
Beta for...
Pelvic Floor
It does not have to be a nebulous topic, nor one that is taboo. Just like you would be educated on your knee before an ACL repair, some holds true for your pelvic floor. Learn exactly what happens during pregnancy, and the first steps you need to take postpartum for healing.
Beta for...
Mental Health
Navigating pregnancy as a climber and an athlete has its own set of mental challenge . Learning how to navigate the hard parts, such as weight gain, loss of performance, or lack of motivation, is truly a skill - and not talked about nearly enough...we're going to change that.
Beta for...
Pregnancy Loss
We know that at least one in four women will experience a loss - and it may be as high as one in two. Speaking openly about the topic is so important to help us be informed and also understand the risks of loss and how they are and are not associated with climbing.
what if it was a reality...

Meet your Trainer
Hi, I'm Joy
The climbing coach for pregnant and postpartum climbers.
I have over a decade of experience coaching - and have worked with over 75 climbers specifically during pregnancy and/or postpartum.
Do not be shocked when I easily use the words pelvic floor, climbing, and internal rotation all in the same sentence.
It wasn't all the long ago...
That I climbed through two pregnancies. One in 2020 and one in 2021.
I can honestly say that climbing with my belly is perhaps the most badass I have ever felt. I loved it.
I want every single one of you to feel the exact same. Empowered, confident, and like a true badass during pregnancy.
Always remember, you got this. I promise.
you don't have to figure this out all on your own
